Today we took a day trip to the Concepcion Mine, just 5 Kms. off the N435 north of Zalamea la Real, in the municipal area of Almonaster La Real. This whole area is rich in industrial heritage and old settlements in ruins. In fact there are five visitable mines right next to each other: Mina Angustura, Mina La Esperanza, Mina San Platon, Mina La Concepcion and Mina La Poderosa. The greenway (old railway track) follows the Odiel River and takes you from Mina Concepcion village, through the mining landscape, past the second mine San Platon and finally to the impressive railway bridge over the Odiel, Puente de Chapa. Distance from the village to the bridge is 5kms.
