Aracena

Population: 6,040
Judicial District: Aracena
A town and head of its judicial district, Aracena includes the hamlets of Las CarihuelasCastañueloCorterrangelJabuguilloLa Umbría, and Valdezufre. It lies in the sierra of the same name in a well-ventilated and healthy spot.
The terrain is highly fertile, mountainous, and of good quality, producing cereals, oil, fruit, vegetables, and acorns—used to fatten a large number of pigs.
The municipal capital comprises around 1,090 buildings with wide, well-paved streets and several squares. The Plaza del Pilar is noteworthy, featuring a monumental fountain with a statue of Saint John, funded by a legacy from Julián Romero de la Osa.
There is also an ancient ruined castle, once a mosque.
Industry is limited to agriculture and essential trades. Commerce involves cured meats and timber. There are several tanneries, numerous oil mills, one completed third-class road, and another under construction.

Aroche

Population: 4,880
Judicial District: Aracena
A hilltop village located roughly one kilometre from the River Chanza, with the hamlets of AndresesLos BrazosCortijoHurónMofaduraEl Puerto, and Los Viejos annexed to it.
Its terrain is mostly rugged, with some dehesas (pasturelands) covered in holm oaks and cork oaks. It produces cereals, oil, legumes, and superior oranges and peaches, the latter of which are exported in moderate quantities.
The main economic asset is the acorn harvest, used to fatten about 7,000 pigs annually.
The municipal capital is surrounded by a solid wall and consists of 933 mostly single-storey buildings. There is a very old castle in ruins and a notable parish church consecrated in the last third of the 15th century.
It has a third-class road and trades in cured meats, timber, and fruit.

Arroyomolinos de León

Population: 2,128
Judicial District: Aracena
A village on the road from Santa Olalla to Fregenal, situated in a well-ventilated and healthy location.
The terrain is mountainous and broken but quite fertile, producing cereals, oil, fruit, and vegetables.
The municipal capital consists of approximately 200 buildings, of regular construction.
It has a third-class road.
