We transcribe from the Glasgow Herald the following telegram from New York dated the 21st of this month: The electric lighting companies of this capital are rapidly declining; extensive preparations are being made to light the streets once again with gas. It is estimated that 500 wires are being cut daily by order of the Government, with the corresponding poles also being removed. At night, the streets are left in complete darkness. It appears that high currents are as dangerous as low ones, and the notion of lighting all streets with electric light has completely vanished.
