Cafe Cantante El Burrero Seville

The Cafes Cantantes come to Huelva

(From our Special Correspondent at The Huelva Gazette)

No need to go to Seville to enjoy the best of Spanish flamenco music and art in a vibrant (and at times boisterous) atmosphere. We have the pleasure of reporting that Don Silverio Franconetti, the well-known cantaor and flamenco entrepreneur from Seville, has recently inaugurated a new venue on Calle Tendaleras (Barriada del Carmen, next to the market), offering pure flamenco for the most discerning audience.

The Cafes Cantantes in Seville are hugely popular venues for both Spanish and foreign aficionados to enjoy the best bailaoras and cantaores that Andalusia has to offer. The most popular today are the Cafe del Burrero on Calle Tarifa and Don Franconetti’s Cafe de Silverio on Calle Rosario.

We can look forward to performances that encapsulate the best of this bewitching art form. Perhaps we will witness the seductive mastery of Lola La Parrala from Moguer, the malagueñas of Antonio Chacón from Jerez de La Frontera, and the fandanguillos of his great rival, El Fosforito. For the best bailaoras, look out for the portentous alegrías and tangos of La Marcarrona from Jerez de La Frontera and the alegrías of Gabriela Ortega from Cadiz.
